Mackenzie Browning
Mackenzie Browning is a Toronto-based, Canadian artist with strong ties to Denver, Colorado. He works primarily in screen-print, book arts, and print-based sculpture, with a focus on community engagement and collaboration.
Mackenzie’s aesthetic is bold, meticulous, and inventive, often blurring the lines between design, craft, and fine art. His artworks push personal technical boundaries, frequently becoming architectural in nature. He believes in fostering creative connections and often works with local communities to share the transformative power of art through workshops, mentoring, and public installations.
Mackenzie’s rural upbringing instilled in him a deep respect for flora and fauna, which is reflected in his print-based installations, drawings, and sculptures. Living and working in urban and suburban settings has also informed his practice, exploring the tensions and contrasts between constructed environments and the natural world. His work highlights the disconnection from nature while celebrating its resilience and beauty.
Mackenzie holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree from Queen’s University. His interdisciplinary practice and commitment to community engagement have made his works part of notable collections, including Open Studio Toronto, Baylor University, Iowa State University, and Virginia Commonwealth University, showcasing his diverse projects and ongoing artistic journey.
