RedLine artists are always finding new ways to wow. From starring in solo shows to winning prestigious awards, we love to see our Residents, Alumni, and Resource Artists growing and thriving.
And recently, RedLine Resource Artist Ana María Hernando was awarded the distinct honor of a Joan Mitchell Fellowship!
What is the Joan Mitchell Fellowship?
The Joan Mitchell Fellowship is a multi-year artist grant program for 15 artists that extends over a 5-year period, with an initial $20,000 payment this year followed by four years of $10,000 installments.
The Joan Mitchell Foundation provides opportunities for artists to engage in programs that focus on personal finance, legacy planning, and self-advocacy.
This year's Fellows employ a diverse array of practices—from painting and sculpture to installation, technology, land art, and community engagement.

About Ana María Hernando
An integral element of our Artist-in-Residency program is to host “Resource Artists” throughout each two-year residency. The role of a Resource Artists is to share their expertise and offer professional guidance to artist residents.
Ana María has been a Resource Artist at RedLine since November of 2021. Since then, she’s continued to produce and exhibit new work locally and internationally. A few highlights include:
She was a selected artist for the current Colorado Women to Watch exhibition at Center for Visual Arts, Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Her solo exhibition Making a Mountain is on display at the Dairy Arts Center through September 9th, 2023
She won the 2020 Prix Henry Clews in Sculpture awarded by La Napoule Art Foundation, with a one-year residency and solo major show at their Château de La Napoule in France.
Congratulations again to Ana María for the impressive and well-deserved fellowship!
