At RedLine, the start of the new year means the opportunity to show off our new Resident Artists! We’re so excited to introduce our 2022-2024 Residents Artists at the Gravitropic: Annual Resident Artist Exhibition, kicking off on Friday, January 27, 6-9pm.

Eileen Roscina & Katie Caron: Art + Science Group Exhibition

About the exhibition: RedLine Resident Artist alumni Eileen Roscina & Katie Caron will be participating in the Art + Science show at The Arvada Center.
“This show is at the intersection of science and creative experimentation. Explore the ways that fourteen contemporary artists use scientific concepts, datasets, research, and development to inform their creative work.
“Art + Science portrays both artistic practice and scientific discovery in new ways, broadening the understanding of both as they experience concepts in science through the unique voice of regional artists.
“Artists include Monica Aiello, Tyler Aiello, Nicole Banowetz, Katie Caron, Joelle Cicak, Erin Espelie, Camila Friedman-Gerlicz, Megan Gafford, Mia Mulvey, Clark Richert, Eileen Roscina, Justin Trupiano ,Travis Vermilye, and Stephen Yazzie.”
About the Artist: Eileen Roscina Richardson is an artist, chef and naturalist from Denver, Colorado who works in a wide variety of mediums. Eileen is an experimental filmmaker with a BFA from Emerson College in Boston, MA, a botanical illustrator, trained at the School of Botanical Art and Illustration in Denver, CO, and a Natural Food Chef, trained at Nutritional Therapy Institute. Through biomimicry and the study of biophilia, her work examines and seeks to raise questions about human’s spiritual and social (dis)connection with nature.

About the artist: Katie Caron is presently Head of Ceramics and 3D Design at Arapahoe Community College. In 2011, Caron created Apoptosis in collaboration with Martha Russo for the Denver Art Museum’s exhibition Overthrown: Clay Without Limits. She has completed numerous site-specific installations for Project Miami, Santa Fe Art Institute, University of Michigan, University of Northern Colorado, Redline contemporary Art Center, and Republic Plaza in Denver. She was reviewed for Drosscapes, an immersive environment, in Sculpture Magazine’s June 2013 issue. Caron recently collaborated with the renowned Santa Fe art collective Meow Wolf, and is represented by William Havu Gallery. Katie Caron resides in Littleton, CO with her family.

About the exhibition: RedLine Resource Artist Ana María Hernando will be participating in the group exhibition Narrative Threads: Fiber Art Today .
“Celebrating a new generation of international artists at the forefront of fiber arts, Narrative Threads: Fiber Art Today includes work by twenty-one artists including Igshaan Adams, Hangama Amiri, Felipe Baeza, Diedrick Brackens, Josh Faught, Christina Forrer, Orly Genger, Ana María Hernando, Woomin Kim, Eric N. Mack, Maria Nepomuceno, Nnenna Okore, Patrick Quarm, Chiharu Shiota, Do Ho Suh, Sagarika Sundaram, Ardeshir Tabrizi, Marie Watt, Qualeasha Wood, Billie Zangewa, and Sarah Zapata.
“The artists featured in the exhibition speak to contemporary issues of identity, gender, race, sexuality, and power through a medium with deep, multicultural roots that predate written history. Narrative Threads explores this practice, specifically the ways in which fiber-based media can communicate both personal and political issues, through a selection of works that can be read as simultaneously autobiographical and socially critical.”
About the artist: Ana María Hernando is a multidisciplinary artist from Argentina, now based in Colorado. She is interested in making the invisible visible, and devotedly explores the sacred feminine through women's rich histories, their daily lives and relationship to hand-worked textiles and wares. In her installations, Ana María uses textiles in abundance, and includes the work of women from around Latin America, from embroideries of cloistered nuns in Buenos Aires, to the weavings and wares of Peruvian women from the mountains. Ana María was the 2020 Prix Henry Clews in Sculpture awardee chosen by La Napoule Art Foundation.

About the exhibition: RedLine Resident Artist Alumni Tony Ortega has a solo exhibition for The William Havu Gallery’s 40th Anniversary.
About the artist: Tony Ortega has been a working artist and teacher for the past 36 years. He is the recipient of the coveted Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts (1999) and the Mayor's Award for Excellence in the Arts (1998). Tony Ortega’s lifelong goal is to contribute to a better understanding of cultural diversity by addressing the culture, history and experiences of Chicanos/Latinos through his art. His work can be found in the Denver Art Museum, Los Angeles County Museum, and the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. He has exhibited extensively in the United States, Latin America and other parts of the world.

About the exhibition: RedLine Resident Artist Alumni Regan Rosburg will be participating in the group exhibition Entanglements.
“Entanglements explores our connections to the natural world. Through a variety of lenses, artists in this exhibition negotiate and engage with the environment, illustrating the complex relationships humans have to nature and its resources.
“These artists employ diverse approaches and intentions, bringing awareness to the current state of our environment to inspire action, giving discarded remains new life, or exploring regenerative capabilities of ecosystems.
“The exhibition will run during Denver’s Month of Photography (March 2023) during which art venues throughout the region celebrate the medium of photography in its many forms and iterations.”
About the artist: Regan Rosburg is an artist, naturalist, and writer; she works in a variety of materials to blur the boundary between nature and culture. Her work is founded in the principles of Ecopsychology, which she describes as society's collective grief, environmental melancholia, and “collective social mania” (her term). She fervently believes that artists are a crucial voice in discussing climate change and human impact. Rosburg is the Co-founder and Artistic Director of Cayo Residency in Eleuthera (Bahamas). Her worldwide residencies/research trips include Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Thailand, Washington state rainforests, Appalachia, Colorado's Black Forest, the Arctic Circle (Svalbard, Norway) and the Oak Springs Garden Foundation (Upperville, VA). She is an adjunct professor at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.

Jeff Page - Junk Drawer Queer House + Techno + Art Party

About the event: Junk Drawer is a queer house + techno + art party based in Denver. Junk Drawer was created by RedLine Resident Artist alumni Jeff Page, along with Justin Najjar-Keith and Aleks Rodriguez.
Junk Drawer presents its first Tea Dance on Saturday January 15th from 3-10pm. We've booked two incredible DJs: Naasha (Denver) and DJ Karim Olen Ash (Toronto). Decor for this January party will be designed by RedLine Resident Artist alumni Alicia Ordal.

About the artist: “I'm a Denver-based multi-disciplinary artist and community/culture organizer. I hold my BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and my MFA from UC Santa Barbara. I work in digital video, painting, collage, performance and installation.
My short experimental videos have been screened in exhibitions and film festivals all over the world. I was recently featured in issue #111 of New American Paintings and was a nominee for the 2015 Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship.
I am the co-founder of two community projects, The New Genres Collective a new-media student-oriented project and Junk Drawer, a bi-monthly queer + house + techno + art party in Denver. I am a former Board member and Artist Committe Chair at PlatteForum.”
